Ben Assad Mirza, Founding and Managing Partner

Having founded Healthcare Law Partners, LLC with his father, Ben previously worked as in-house for large and small hospital systems, physician groups, insurance plans, and other healthcare related businesses. Ben is certified in Healthcare Compliance (as a compliance officer). He holds a Masters of Public Health & Administration from Yale University; a Masters of Law (LL.M.) in Taxation (concentration in Mergers & Acquisitions) from Villanova University; a Juris Doctor from Nova Southeastern University; and a Bachelors in Accounting from Florida International University. Ben serves associations like the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) of South Florida, National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE) of Florida, and Indian Physicians of Florida (IPOF). Ben has litigated nearly 2000 cases, and approaches litigation in a practical straightforward no-nonsense manner. Komal S. Mirza, Associate Attorney healthcare strategists

Born and raised in South Florida, Komal completed her undergraduate studies in pre-medicine/biological sciences at Florida Atlantic University. She later pursued her Juris Doctor at Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad College of Law. Prior to joining Heathcare Law Partners, Komal worked as an Attorney at Legal Aid Service of Broward County, Inc. where she advocated for the medical needs of Broward County’s abused, abandoned and neglected children. In addition to being an attorney, Komal is a dedicated member of the community. As a former board member for Broward County Women Lawyers’ Association, she was the founding chair of The School Board Committee. In this capacity, Komal worked closely with The Seventeenth Judicial Circuit of Broward County and The School Board of Broward County to introduce The Informed Voters Workshop for Tomorrow’s Leaders. Through this program, hundreds of high school students have had the opportunity to build mentorships with judges and attorneys. Komal is a proud graduate of The Florida Bar's Wm. Reece Smith, Jr. Leadership Academy.


Shamim A. Mirza, Founder

As now retired Founding Partner, Shamim A. Mirza inspired us to respect the law and hold the line of integrity. He is believed to be the first South-Asian American to become a Florida Bar licensed attorney in 1975. Having been an attorney in his home country in the 1960's, he is a graduate of University of Florida Levin College of Law's Cuban-American Lawyer's Program.

Ed Meyer,* Of Counsel

Ed Meyer (Stanford A.B. ’83 and Georgetown Law J.D. ‘91) has focused his legal career exclusively on the business aspects of the health care industry. His past clients have included some of the largest for profit and non-profit hospital systems, as well as a broad array of physician organizations. Mr. Meyer regularly advises his clients on U.S. Federal Medicare rules, Federal fraud and abuse laws and structuring business transactions in a legally compliant manner. Before commencing his California law license, Mr. Meyer worked in Federal Government, first as a legislative assistant to a senior member of the House Ways and Means Committee, then as a Reagan Administration appointee at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
